Got Your Hand With That Designer Love

I have always been a huge fan of the fashion house known as Azzedine Alaia, who became famous with his work in the 1980's. While on Melrose on day I stopped into a tiny boutique called Resurrection. The amazing vintage store holds the things you can only dream of. A huge Chanel charm bracelet, a teeny chiffon gown with butterfly sleeves by Halston, a backless Valentino gown, and Balenciaga sunglasses from the 1980's. Resurrection has two locations, one in NYC and one here in Los Angeles. I was soo intrigued by the boutique I just had to ask the stylist about some of the uses and places these vintage pieces were used. The boutique is a personal stylist heaven for red carpet events and editorials. So a lot of those to die for red carpet vintage pieces we see all the lovely actresses wearing most likely were pulled from this establishment. They recently used pieces from Resurrection for a layout in in Glamor with a very famous singer and who else was she wearing but Azzedine Alaia! Ohh and don't forget but in case you forgot we were all introduced to Alaia from the classic movie Clueless! When Cher is robbed in the Vally she is forced to get on the ground and screams "But this is an Alaia!!!"

Below are some of my favorite pieces. Hope you enjoy!

Chanel No. 9 Running Through My Veins

This one goes out to all the boys and men out there that aren't gay. You have no idea how to shop. Gay boys you may skip this blog because I mean well you do have better style then most of us.......okay all of us!

When guys think of gifts.....especially large gifts they want to get for there girlfriends or wives then think logically and use that good old rational right side of the brain. Diamond necklace, Louis Vuitton Bag(barf), or you call your buddies who are just as bad as you unless you work in the theatre and arts, and they tell you "yeah buddy she'll really like that. Good thinking. I guess I'll just do that for my girlfriend too." I can't count how many sad sad gf's and wives that wear that damn "forever" heart neckless! **EXAMPLE BELOW

Yes! This one! To all the females that read this how many of you all have this exact Tiffany's Heart Pendent? Or not even out of the page but just in general, how many girls a day do you see walking around with this on? And listen this is just my opinion but thankfully I have never been given this because I think everyone I've dated know I despise hearts and despise anything ordinary. But you know if Hearts from Tiffany's are your think then that's cool but you have to realize there are some really cool awesome LARGE gifts out there. You kind have to get it on your own or hint and then in 2 years they should bee fully adjusted to your likes and dislikes. And no bad marks on Tiffany's. When I used to work next door to Tiffany's, I literally had "Lunch Hour at Tiffany's" and would sit there in the "good" room(that's the 1st room you walk into at most Tiffany's. It's full of the most beautiful diamonds that one would ever want to see), and try on everything fabulous. They even tried to talk me out of my 3 caret engagement ring but telling me I was too tiny but I insisted that that Tiffany Setting 3 Carat in a size four looked fabulous! I have such long skinny fingers its just gross but anyways. I mean that was fun and all but really I'm much more of a Van Cleef and Tacori girl.

Today we are going to be extraordinary and get our Chanel on. Not a bag, not a fragrance, and unfortunately not any of the fabulous clothes but something close......Chanel Jewelry and Vintage Chanel Jewelry! You know when you go to Chanel Boutique at Sak's and you're so overwhelmed by all the beautiful rare Chanel bags that you never really get a chance to spend that much time on the jewelry? And then when you do, some of the pieces from the jewelry collection are almost as much as the bags so you say "Ohh I just can't" and walk away. This is where you guys can come in!!! Instead of those Jewelry stores at the mall get her something eccentric. And the 1st example of that would be a good starter would be a piece of Chanel Jewelry. It's something that we never get to get for ourselves but something that we long for very much. Believe me......you'll win hubby/bf of the year! Here are a few pieces I pulled so take a glance and if you have any questions just write me. Everyone gets Tiffany Hearts and LV bags. Be different!

Love To Make The People Stare

Somethings been bugging me. Something has been bugging me for a long time. It's something that I see a whole lot of people carry and think it is okay when in all reality they are making a huge fashion don't. The Coach Bag. I believe this bag became popular with all of it's glorious C's on canvas around the early 2000's. I know it was a time when we were all still in college. See being 2003 and being 21, sometimes you don't have the best judgement on bags and purchase what you see to be popular. I mean I didn't even start my fixation on bags until I graduated college and had my own money to throw around on overpriced but worth every penny big label handbags. I can proudly say I have NEVER owned a Coach bag but I don't want to be a total bitch here so let's just go over what made you buy that Coach bag, why in the world do you still wear it, and most importantly..........the on Gods earth to you think it's appropriate to add a Coach scarf or key chain or whatever awful accessories I see hanging off of these bags. Please know I am not trying to be mean, I am just trying to help. And please ALWAYS remember "Always chose LV's over C's". Learn it, Love it, Own it.

There are a couple of exceptions to this rule......chicks in HS that don't have any fashion knowledge yet, and women over 50. Fine whatever I mean this is still a huge fashion disaster but we'll cut these people a break. Let me tell you though, my mother is 62 and would never be caught dead with the "C" going on. I kinda taught her that though. You can also help your elders! So last night I was craving a philly cheese steak from the mall food court. While I eating a small piece of heaven and drinking my coke I began to Coach bags coming at me left and right. It was like a horrible nightmare but I was wide awake. I didn't even know people carried these yucky things anymore. Why are these bags still around I thought to myself? Now I know there are Coach stores everywhere now a days but I thought people would eventually come to their senses and know that overpriced canvas bags with C's all over them along with horrid decorations are not going to make them a fashionista. What I would like to do is just throw out there that it is soo easy for some people to get used to certain styles and just stick with them. Huge no no. So what I am going to do is try to introduce you guys to other styles and designers. And believe me just post your used Coach Bag on craigslist or ebay and it should sell very easily. Get rid of them.

Let's just start off with a huge NO on my end in the higher end category. Burberry Nova Check bags. With a great price point varying from around $400-$600 you might this these PVC made in china bags are a steal. No, they suck! Even when I was with the company myself and my coworkers just really pitied these bags and how fast they flew out of the store. I totally never got it. It's just a NO! Another line that is at a sensible price but if almost 99% horrid are bags from Juicy. I mean hello did you ever notice that they are ALWAYS on the sale table at Sak's. And just to top it all off basically ANY bad that states what brand it is all over the bag can take a hike! Girls.....these bags are supposed to be a longterm deal. A classic that you will always wear. Do not go and throw your money away on a small bag that has G's all over it for Guggi. Gucci had GORGEOUS bags. Why pay less and get a shitty one. Save up and get a limited edition one or one of the huge leathers with the classic Gucci clasp. Same exact thing goes for the Diors. I know those little saddlebags with the "CD"'s all over it they have are cute but believe me in 5 years you won't want to see that thing ever again. Not worth it! And lastly.......TRENDY LV small pvc bags. I love my Louis don't get me wrong but do you ever still see Jessica still wearing her huge white Louis she wanted so bad and wore endlessly on Newlyweds? Yeah, I didn't think so either.

Bags that are fabulous and around the same price as the Coach bag that you just sold! Kooba bags. I love this line. Amazing leather and classic styles. If you want a logo on you this is not for you. Bag's range from like ehh $300-$600. It may not have a name all over it but believe me these bags look more expensive and beautiful on then those "C" bags ever will. Coach bags have cheap written all over them. Marc by Marc Jacob. Not my pick by any means but this is a good line. Some have the label all over it and some do not. Good for the girl in her 20's. Price range around the same as Kooba. Tory Burch. I think these are a great choice. I just saw one that I adored for $425 in just a great washed leather. Hobo International. I once was drooling over this bag when I think I was working and I asked her what it was and she said Hobo International so of course I went home and googled but could not find this exact bag but believe me they have awesome bags. Henri Bendel. love love love love. Best bags. Best price points. I just saw a new one that I am going to get when I have some extra money after wedding season! btw just for knowledge....Henri Bendel and Coco Chanel did accessories together. If you look at both lines you can see many similarities.
Now I'm just going to list some lines that I love and are to die:
Chanel
Balenciaga(I think everyone already knows about that obsession)
Miu Miu
Marc Jacobs(I still have dreams about getting a Stam bag)
Prada
Jimmy Choo
Ferragmo
And always remember "LV's over C's"

Peace and Love

You Just Keep Me Hanging On

Ohh Oh Oh Oh You don't really need me, but you keep me hanging on. Are your clothes in your closet and drawer screaming please get me out of here? Well maybe it's time you do some, what some call, spring cleaning. I don't do just spring cleaning. I do monthly cleaning. I cannot stand clothing staring at me everyday that I know I will never wear again. So let's start cleaning!

1. If you haven't wore it in over a year and a half....peace out. The likely hood of you bringing back that piece into your everyday wardrobe is very very rare. In the bag it goes.

2. So you have this amazing Alice + Olivia dress. Just for example we'll use the A+O dress I wore birthday party circa '07 or '08. It was thew perfect b-day dress and every celeb was wearing it. BUT it had a HUGEEEEE flaw. It was a trendy piece. (which I try to never buy anything trendy but that's a whole other blog and believe me I cheat all the time. I'm trying to stop I swear.) I don't know what happened but I think I had quit my cube job and needed some extra cash. It took about a month for me to be able to let it go but it was still VERY popular and sold in a day after putting it up on ebay for $250. I knew in my heart I would never have worn it again and I am happy it is with someone else now.

3. Jeans. Jeans, jeans, jeans. Please go through your jeans regularly and believe me you will find a lot of jeans that can peace out of your closet and into your donation bag. A lot of girl tend to keep jeans for years that they do not fit into. Stop and let the dream go away. I last year at this time went through mine. I had two pairs of my fav skinnies, Tsubi's, paige, and hudsons that all no longer went over my thighs. Although it was highly painful to give them up(basically due to all the money that goes into one pair of jeans), it was for the best. And hopefully someone fabulous is wearing them that shops at Mt. Lebo's Avalon consignment shop.

4. Why the hell do you still have your coat from your college days still hanging up in your closet??? Peace out.

5. If your favorite tops have horrid clothing balls all over, or the white has turned into a lovely yellow shade(ehh!), or they are your pimp or skank shirts from your college days or your early twenties.......PEACE OUT! No explanation needed.

So in conclusion I'll just say that; If you don't wear it, it doesn't fit, doesn't flatter, is sooo not your style anymore, you rocked it out at your early twenties nightclub, and just random things that you are sooo over. It's time to get rid of them! And this is the best part......your trash is someone elses's treasure. It's true. What I do 1st is look at the piece, what I had paid, what year it is, and if it's more of a classic piece over trendy. With those pieces, I take to the consignment shop in Mt. Lebanon, PA. You can find your local consignment shops very easily by just doing some googling. You won't get paid too well but if you are not worrying about the cash then they can also give you a credit to the store. I this particular shop so sometimes I'll just grab something that makes me feel better about losing my clothes. Try to find one like we have in Pittsburgh. You can just brag a pair of Jimmy Choos, Juicy Sweats, or awesome Fendi bags(I can still never afford those.)

If you have something that is in a high price range take it to the best consignment shop you have in your town. We have one here in Shadyside that I use. What they do is keep the dress and when it is sold, you receive half of what it was marked. You get much more doing this but the other way is more simple and instant gratification. But always go and check out your consignment shops cause like I said you can get amazing things from them. Used Chanel bag for $600 anyone?

And the best and most popular way to clean out your things is simply after you have gone through all of your things, grab a few garbage bags and go donate. There are soooooo many people that need out help. Clothes, Food Banks, and Shelters can't help everyone who is in need. We need to do much much more. But this is a great start for you if you are just beginning to help out your community.

Hope everyone cleans out their closets and does a good deed this week!

Peace & Love

Velvet Ropes and Guitars

Sorry for being a disappearing act since my last post on Tuesday but I'm back in my hometown and there were just so many exciting projects to jump into, I have exhausted myself. Now once again I will tell you.....I am quite the trendsetter so if I were you I would follow accordingly. Thank you. Here are my top October Essentials.\

10. Scarves-Now I love grabbing a scarf and adding to whatever I have on. You can do this for warmth and for fashion. I mean who can forget what a fashion opt was caused by the awesome McQueen skull scarf! I love Chun Luu's creations and I'm still a sucker for the Love Quote scarves that every celeb had a couple years ago. I have one in hot pink and one in white. Love them! Ohh and be original and stay away from the classic Burberry check. Burberry has lovely scarves w/out there damn print all over it. It's annoying to see those. I have one and believe me it only comes out when warmth is absolutly needed.

9. Basketball Diaries DVD. A classic of Leonardo.

8. ESPN Score Center app for your iPhone. I love this app and although I only use it for men's tennis it will come to great use for all of you guys and girls who are in the mist of your football obsession and need up to the minute scores.

7. Cashmere Eye Mask. A girls gotta sleep! BTW, the one shown above is actually the eyemask Holly Golightly(Audry Hepburn) wore throughout the classic Breakfast at Tiffanys.

6. Tom Ford Sunglasses. This is still, from what I know, the only thing that Tom Ford has for women. These sunglasses may be a bit higher in price point but are totally worth the splurge.

5. Unsigned Bands. Support you local music scene and hit up some Pittsburgh based, or whenever you may be, gigs.

4. Pearls, Pearls, and more Pearls. Just dip yourself in them before heading out. They are everywhere and very layered in multiple strands! Gunmetal Pearls are hot as well.

3. A ticket to the Monster Ball starring Lady Gaga. Major must see!!!

2. Chanel polish in Diabolic. A fabulous updated version the very famous Vamp.

1. Best Friends......obviously!

Peace and Love,
